Q: What formats can I use?
Please ensure that your images comply with the following:
- Resolution: Between 72 and 200 dpi.
- Maximum File Size: 400 KB per image.
- File Type: .jpg format only.
Q: How do I save a photo in .JPG format?
- Select Save a Copy As... or Export button in your image-editing software.
- Select .jpg (jpeg) format.
- Decide where on your hard drive you want to save the image.
- Navigate to the desired destination by opening the folder that you want your image to be saved to. You can enter the name for the photo in the Save a Copy As dialog box.
- Click the Save button. You will receive a message notifying you of the location of the saved image.
Q: How do I make my pictures look less grainy on my computer display?
Change your computer display's video settings to show High Color or True Color (more than 256 colors). Refer to the documentation that came with your computer or to the Windows help system (search for help on Display, Color Resolution or Color Depth) for further details about changing the Display settings for your computer.
Q: How can I optimize the scan quality of my images?
- Scan only for the output device you are using. For Photo Gallery, you are scanning for computer monitors (and TV, which shows the same resolution), so you can scan anywhere between 72 to 200 dpi (dots per inch).
- Crop images to show the most relevant portion of an image.
Q: Will I receive notice if my photo has been selected for the Photo Gallery?
No, we will not notify you if your photo has been selected to appear in our Photo Gallery.
Q: How long will a photo selected for Photo Gallery be displayed?
All photos sent to us are will be archived in our photo database and if chosen for display within Photo Gallery, placed within specific galleries and collections.
Q: What legal restrictions apply when submitting to the Photo Gallery?
Please read our Rules for Photo Submission.
Q: When will my Ulster County photo be published in the Photo Gallery?
Photos will be reviewed and selections will be made daily for the Photo Gallery. We regret we are unable to post each and every submission. The Photo Gallery will be updated frequently. If you do not see your image displayed within ten days of submission, the image has most likely not been selected for our Photo Gallery and will not be included.
